DANIEL SOURCE » The Dark Tower
Author Stephen King confirmed the DARK TOWER movie news to a crowded room at the New York Comic-Con stating:
"I said no to everybody until recently, because I didn’t think much of the chances of it being a good movie,” King told the crowd. “I mean, this is my life’s work, since the time I was 22 years old. It’s very important to me. Usually, with the other [books], I don’t give much of a shit. My attitude is, ‘Go make a movie, and if it’s good, that’s terrific, and if it’s bad, then it will go to the video stores and back shelves of Blockbuster, and I still get royalties on the book'."
It is reported, JJ Abrams may possibly be directing the upcoming movie. Further reports (rumours) state that Daniel Day-Lewis is a sersious contender for the lead role of Roland Deschaini.
For those unfamiliar with THE DARK TOWER it is a series of seven books written by American author Stephen King between 1970 and 2004. The series incorporates themes from multiple genres, including fantasy fiction, science fantasy, horror and western elements. They describe a gunslinger's quest toward a tower whose nature the books call both physical and metaphorical.
In the story, Roland is the last living member of a knightly order known as gunslingers. The world he lives in is quite different from our own, yet it bears striking similarities to it. Politically organized along the lines of a feudal society, it shares technological and social characteristics with the American Old West, as well as bearing magical powers and the relics of a highly advanced, but long vanished, society. Roland's quest is to find the Dark Tower, a fabled building said to be the nexus of all universes. Roland's world is said to have "moved on," and indeed it appears to be coming apart at the seams - mighty nations have been torn apart by war, entire cities and regions vanish from the face of the earth without a trace, time does not flow in an orderly fashion; even the sun sometimes rises in the north and sets in the east. As the series opens, Roland's motives, goals, and his age are unclear, though later installments shed light on these mysteries.

DANIEL SOURCE » 'Nine' Cast Fills Up
Fergie (of the Black Eyed Peas) is set to star alongside Daniel Day-Lewis in NINE.
In her first significant leading role on the big screen, Fergie has been cast as one of the final puzzle pieces in Rob Marshall’s ensemble musical, “Nine” for The Weinstein Company, Access Hollywood has learned exclusively. The casting will be announced Friday.
While there are several female leads in the film, including Academy Award winners Kate Hudson (announced Wednesday), Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren and Marion Cotillard, as well as Academy Award nominee Penelope Cruz, Fergie’s role will be significant.
The musical revolves around the women in the life of the male lead character, Guido Contini, who will be played by two-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis. The show is loosely based on the life of Italian director Federico Fellini, and inspired by his masterpiece, “8½.” “Nine” opened on Broadway in 1982 and was revived starring (amongst others) Antonio Banderas (and later, John Stamos), Mary Stuart Masterson, Jane Krakowski, Chita Rivera and Laura Benanti.

DANIEL SOURCE » "Nine" - It's Official
It has already been confirmed by PEOPLE.COM, but now a statement has been released by NINE director, Rob Marshall confirming Daniel's role.
In statements released about director Rob Marshall switching agencies from ICM to CAA, Marshall commented on the Nine movie noting that "I am thrilled to report that everything on my film Nine is moving forward with great momentum. Daniel Day-Lewis' deal was closed last week and we are on schedule to begin rehearsals in London on July 28 with shooting to commence September 29."
Day-Lewis replaced the previously attached Javier Bardem who left the project a few weeks ago citing exhaustion. Variety recently confirmed recent casting rumors noting that Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench are attached to the film as well.
Nine is a musical with a book by Arthur Kopit and music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and is based off of Fredrico Fellini's movie 8 1/2. The play tells the story of a young film maker living in Venice trying to juggle all of the women in his life.
The Broadway production, directed by Tommy Tune and choreographed by Thommie Walsh, opened on May 9, 1982 at the 46th Street Theatre, where it ran for 729 performances. The cast included Raúl Juliá as Guido, Karen Akers as Luisa, Liliane Montevecchi as Liliane, Anita Morris as Carla, Shelly Burch as Claudia, and Taina Elg as Guido's mother. Replacements later in the run included Bert Convy and Sergio Franchi as Guido, Maureen McGovern as Luisa, and Priscilla Lopez as Liliane. The musical won five Tony Awards, including best musical.
